CORTLAND, N.Y. – Neumann University men's ice hockey team wins in non conference play against SUNY Cortland 3-2 Friday night. The Knights improve to 4-2 overall record.
The Knights set the tone for the weekend winning the first game of two for the weekend. The Knights would build a sizeable three goal lead after two periods. Jordan Zalba would capitalize and score on a power play at the 8:51 mark in the first period, assisted by Scott Farrell and Mike Rey. Before the first period concluded, the Knights would strike again in the flow of play from Andrew Love. Jeff Bienvenue and Aaron Keaney assisted off of Love's goal at the 18:19 mark.
Marlon Gardner would record the game winner at 16:36 into the second period, as Dan McGougall and Cory Park dishing out the assist.
The Red Dragons would make a stand in the last period making for uncomfortable moments for the Knights. The Red Dragons would score two goals off power plays at the 12:07 and 18:36 mark of the third period.
Matt Tendler (sr. Warminster, Pa. / Philadelphia Little Flyers) made 26 saves on the night. The Red Dragons forced only six saves from Tendler in the final period. The Knights outshot the Red Dragons 33-28 respectively.
The Knights compete against SUNY Cortland on Saturday at 3 p.m.
