Volleyball hosts Marywood in CSAC Semifinal

11/3/2011 1:58:00 PM

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team is the No.2 seed for the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs and will host Marywood University, the No. 3 seed, Thursday, November 3 at 7:30 p.m. in The Mirenda Center.

The volleyball team finished the regular season with a 21-12 overall record and 10-1 in the CSAC. The lone loss came against the No. 1 seeded Cabrini College 3-1 on September 29th. Marywood continues in the playoffs with a first round win against Philadelphia Biblical University 3-1 on Tuesday.

The Knights beat Marywood in the regular season 3-1 at the Mirenda Center. The season has been the redefining of their “swagger.” Two steps forward and one step back have been somewhat of the team's trend. It is the vision of the Knights to continue to take steps forward in the CSAC playoffs starting tonight.

The Knights' Katelin Kuklentz proved be steady and consistent with team kills and digs. Natalie George and Gianna Jones have been dominant and the Knights will rely on George's ability to get airborne for both blocks and kills. Cecily Scavecchio has the ability to feel the rhythm of the game and her form is integral to the team's success. Her feel for the match translates into her feel for of touch of the ball, lofting sweet nothings for our killers to kill. Katie Young's competitive nature and well timed moments will be sought after tonight. Victoria Limmina has the lion's share for team digs and she will be supported with teammates Maria Donahue and Danielle Kwapisz.

Last season the Knights were a No. 3 seed as they fell to No. 2 seed Baptist Bible College 3-1. The Knights had a long year to think about last season. So they have everything to gain and nothing to lose with the talent and ability of this 2011 team.

The winner of tonight's contest will compete for the Championship against the other semifinal match-up between No. 1 seeded Cabrini College and No. 4 seeded Baptist Bible College.
