Late Push Falls Just Short

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Neumann University men's basketball made a late run, but could not get back Rowan University and fell 75-69 on Tuesday evening.

 

Patrick O'Connor led the Knights with 19 points, including going 8-for-9 from the line. Gerald Bryant hit three from downtown en route to his 14 points.

 

The game came down to the final two-and-a-half minutes of the game as Neumann tied the game at 65.  Branden Harrington hit a layup with 2:10 on the clock to give the Knights it's only lead of the contest, 67-65.  Rowan would tie the game at 67 with two free throws. Bryant would hit two free throws with 29 seconds remaining for a 71-69 Profs lead. Neumann would not be able to hit another basket and fell 75-69.

 

Rowan would control play in the first half, building a 19 throughout the first 20 minutes. The Profs held a 47-31 lead at halftime. Neumann's Reggie Coleman hit a three pointer with four seconds remaining in the first half.

 

Neumann started to chip away at the lead and came within one, 57-56, as Harrington hit a layup at the 7:50 mark. The Knights tied the game at 60 with 4:37 left in regulation. The Knights outscored the Profs 38-28 in the second half as they attempted the comeback.

 

Neumann (5-6) is off until after the New Year when it will travel to Widener on January 4th for a 7:00 PM tip-off.
