Neumann Wins Third Straight with 71-61 win at Rosemont

ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team held off Rosemont College, 71-61, Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play.

 

Mike Walukiewicz led four Knights in double-digits with 19 points. He was 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. Patrick O'Connor notched 16 points while Rich Whitten added 10. Mark Blount pulled down 12 boards.

 

Greg Gardner scored 14 points to lead the Ravens. Derrick Carter added 12 points. Harrison Carsillo had 13 rebounds and 10 points.

 

The largest lead of the first half was held by Rosemont, 26-18, with 7:02 on the clock. Terrance Clark hit a lay-up for Neumann with four second left in the half for a tie game at 31 going into halftime.

 

The second half featured eight lead changes and three ties. With 8:19 left in regulation, Walukiewicz hit a three-pointer to give the Knights the lead back, 55-54, a lead they would not surrender again.

 

Rosemont would get to within two, 61-59, with three minutes remaining, but many Neumann players hit key free throws in the final minutes of play to seal the win.

 

Neumann improves to 13-10 overall and 10-6 in the CSAC. The Knights have won their last three contests. Rosemont is 6-16, 4-11 in the conference. Neumann travels to Philadelphia Biblical on Tuesday evening for a conference doubleheader. The women tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the men at 8 p.m.
