ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team completed its 2010-11 regular season with a 6-0 win over Sacred Heart Saturday evening.
Jessica Schroeder scored two goals and added an assist. Dru Austin netted two goals. Edie Brenning had a goal and an assist. Shannon Donnelly made 39 saves for the shutout.
The Knights jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one period. Schroeder notched two unassisted goals, the first and third of the period. Angela Gilmour netted Neumann's second goal off of an assist from Edie Brenning. Dru Austin then notched the fourth goal of the period off an assist from Mariah Fairgrieve with 2:48 left in the period.
Brenning scored her goal in the second period, off an assist from Lynsey Nakamura. Austin then scored her second goal of the game at the 12:19 mark of the third period to round out the scoring.
Before the game, Neumann recognized its five seniors from this year's squad: Nikk Blazenko, Mariah Fairgrieve, Stephanie Nakamura, Gina Reuter and Jessica Schroeder,
Neumann finishes the regular season 15-6-4 overall. The Knights will be the No. 4 seed heading into the ECAC West playoffs and will host a first round game next Saturday at 4 p.m.
