Knights Win Thriller in OT

ASTON, Pa. – Mike Pantelone scored 17 seconds into overtime to give the Neumann University men's lacrosse team a 13-12 come-from-behind win over Richard Stockton College on Tuesday evening.

 

Pantelone finished with five goals in the game. Justin Mailloux added four goals and an assist. Sam Maldou notched two goals and four helpers. Mark Consolo had two goals and an assist and Rich Louis dished out two assists.

 

Ryan Davis played the second half in net for the Knights and made nine saves to pick up the win. Andrew Neubauer started the game in goal and made six saves in the first half.

 

David Soule led the Ospreys with five goals. Drew Flagler notched three goals and four assists. Matt Bologno added two goals and a helper. Tim Walcott made 15 saves in net.

 

Stockton scored the games first five goals for a 5-0 lead in the second quarter. Consolo then put Neumann on the board 2:28 into the second quarter. Each team would net four goals in the second and the Ospreys held an 8-4 lead at halftime.

 

Stockton would score four goals in the third quarter while Neumann notched three and the Ospreys held a 12-7 advantage heading into the last 15 minutes.

 

The Knights then started to put the pressure on. Mailloux would score three of his four goals in the fourth quarter, including the game-tying goal with 4:40 left in regulation. The Knights would net a total of five goals in the fourth while holding the Ospreys scoreless.

 

That set up for Pantleone to score the game-winning goal 17 seconds into the extra session for the Knights first win on the season.

 

Neumann (1-1) will travel to Frostburg State on Saturday for a non-conference game beginning at 1 p.m. Stockton opened its season tonight and is 0-1.
