Women's Lacrosse Beats Cabrini

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team defeated Cabrini College for the first time under Head Coach Sarah Kurpel, 15-14, on Saturday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest.

 

Alexandra Bohen led the Knights with six goals and an assist. Meghan Garsey and Erica Crabtree each notched three goals. Sam Kotowski made 18 saves in net for the win.

 

Cabrini jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game. The Knights then scored four straight goals for a 4-2 advantage mid way through the first half.

 

The Cavaliers would cut the Knights lead to one goal twice in the rest of the half, but Neumann would hold a 10-7 advantage at the break.

 

After Cabrini scored in the opening minute of the second half, Bohen scored two goals to put Neumann up 12-8. Erica Crabtree notched a goal at the 12:56 mark of the period for a 15-11 Knights advantage.

 

The Cavaliers would not go quietly and started to cut into the Knights lead. Cabrini got to within one, 15-14, with 3:24 left in regulation, but Neumann held on for the first win over Cabrini.

 

Neumann is now 4-8 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Knights travel south to the College of Notre Dame on Tuesday for CSAC action beginning at 4:30 p.m.
