Women’s Lacrosse to Face Centenary in CSAC First Round

4/28/2011 11:30:49 AM

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team is back in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs for the first time since 2009. The Knights finished the year strong, winning four of their last five conference games en route to a 5-3 record in the CSAC.

Offensively, the team has been led by junior Alexandra Bohen, who has notched a team high 63 goals and 13 assists for a total of 76 points. Aiding Bohen on the attack this season for Neumann are sophomore Erica Crabtree and junior Meghan Garsey. Crabtree has found the net 30 times this season, while Garsey has notched 25 goals of her own.

In net, the Knights have been led by freshman Sam Kotowski. The young net-minder saw the bulk of the time in net for Neumann this year, recording 100 saves and four wins. Kotowski is helped out on the defensive-end of the field by senior Adrienne McCrae and sophomore Olivia Speakman who have both provided leadership to the young Knights team. Elissa DeCarlo has also provided a spark in the back-end, picking up 28 ground-balls to lead the team in that statistic.

With their fifth place conference finish, the Knights will travel to Centenary College on Saturday April 30th to take on fourth seeded Cyclones in a first-round game. Back in late March, the Knights fell 23-21 at Centenary in one of the most exciting games of the season, so this first round matchup should be a barn-burner as well. In that game the Knights received five goals from Alexandra Bohen, and three apiece from Erica Crabtree, Meghan Garsey and Carla Melendez. Game-time on Saturday is 12 noon.
