Women's Lacrosse Heads to Marywood for CSAC Semifinals

5/3/2011 3:45:16 PM

ASTON, Pa. – The fifth seeded Neumann University women's lacrosse team will head north to Scranton, Pa. to visit the number one seeded Marywood University Pacers on Wednesday night in a Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinal match-up at 6 pm.

Neumann advanced to the semifinal round of the CSAC playoffs with a 13-10 first-round win over Centenary College last Saturday. In that game, the Knights were led by Alexandra Bohen and Erica Crabtree, who tallied four goals apiece. Neumann also received a fantastic performance in goal from freshman net-minder Sam Kotowski, who stopped 17 shots in the win. The game marked the first time since 2007 that the Knights recorded a post-season victory.

For the season, the Knights have been led by Alexandra Bohen, who was the team's only first-team all-conference selection. The junior has notched 67 goals and 15 assists on the season to lead the team in both categories. Erica Crabtree (34 goals) and Meghan Garsey (25 goals) have also aided the Knight offense. Defensively the team is led by Olivia Speakman, who was named second-team all-conference this season. The sophomore has been a steady presence on the back-end of the field all season long. In net, the team relies on freshman Sam Kotowski, who has recorded five wins and 117 saves in her first season on the team.

The Knights and Pacers met once earlier this season in Scranton, with Marywood coming away with a 23-9 win. Neumann received two-goal games from Alexandra Bohen, Erica Crabtree and Chelsa O'Donnell, but their output wasn't enough to match six-goal performances from Marywood's Diana D'Achille and Taylor McKeown. If the Knights are to come away with a win at Marywood this time, they will need to slow down the Pacers top ranked attack. Marywood has scored 276 goals this season, good for an average of 18.40 per game.
