Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's field hockey team lost to Cabrini College in Colonial States Athletics Conference (CSAC) play 6-2 Saturday afternoon.

Cabrini College got off to a fast start hitting the post within the first minute of play. It was a sign of things to come as they had very good speed and very attacking minded. Neumann spotted Cabrini a goal just 1:54 in the contest. Kelsey McCrossing had three great runs down the right sideline serving the ball into the vacant box and forced Cabrini's goalkeeper to make a foot save.

The Knights displayed the right reaction and Christina Hicks was fouled just outside the box. Set piece for the Knights and they took advantage on a well executed play that had Erica Crabtree assist on a well struck goal by Callie Emel.

The tides would turn again, as Cabrini would score a minute later following Neumann's short lived goal celebration. Cabrini was a team that liked to high pressure and lived for transition opportunities.

Callie Emel found herself in a breakaway, but as the Cabrini keeper cut down the angle by coming out, Emel was forced to push the ball wide for a shot. Emel wasn't able convert on the play.

Cabrini lived large in the second half as the next three goals came off loss of possession in the defensive half.  The three successive goals came in a three minute span.  Cabrini would score a sixth goal to frustrate the Knights. Beth Lounsberry scored with two minutes to go for the Knights and finish on a good note. McCrossing assisted on the final goal.

Maggie Carpenter made nine saves in net.

The Knights (1-4, 0-1 CSAC) are back in action Tuesday September 20 at 7:00 PM when they host Moravian.
