ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team fell at No. 3 Elmira College 4-1 on Sunday afternoon in ECAC West action.
The Knights jumped on the board early as Kristine Acosta scored 2:14 into the game. Ang Gilmour drew the assist. Neumann held the 1-0 lead after one period.
Elmira then scored four unanswered goals. The Soaring Eagles tied the game with a power play goal at the 11:27 mark of the second period. The eventual game-winner was scored with 27 seconds left in the second period.
Neumann had its shots to tie the game throughout the third period, but with 3:33 left on the clock, Elmira put the puck in the net for a 3-1 lead. The Soaring Eagles would cap the game with an empty net goal with 1:02 left in the game.
Shannon Donnelly made 37 saves in net as Neumann is now 2-9-2 on the season and 1-7-2 in the ECAC West. The Knights return home for a pair of conference games with Cortland State next weekend.
