PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's hockey team dropped a 5-3 decision at Manhattanville College on Saturday evening in ECAC West action.
Manhattanville scored two goals in the first and two in the second to jump out to a 4-0 lead after two periods.
The Knights then attempted a comeback and netted three goals in a span of 1:05 for a 4-3 game. Mike Rey spoiled the shutout on the power play at the 3:06 mark. Marlon Gardner and Jordan Zalba drew the assists.
Steve Gervais notched a power play goal, off an assist from Rey, at the 3:54 mark. Ryan Dreger lit the lamp just 17 second later. William Lacasse and Brent Tamane assisted on the goal.
With the score 4-3, the Valients scored an insurance goal at the 6:41 mark of the third period. Manhattanville held off another surge by Neumann for the 5-3 win.
Ross MacKinnon started the game and made 22 saves in two periods. Ben Curley played the third period and made seven saves.
Neumann is 12-6 overall and 2-5 in the conference. The Knights are off next week before they host Hobart on Feb. 3 & 4.
