Neumann really started heating up in the second half as they would have a game-high 20 point lead with just 5:53 remaining in regulation. Centenary would go on a 20 point run to battle back from the 79-59 deficit.
O'Connor hit one-of-two from the line to put the Knights back up by one. A Cyclones layup by Larry Lenahan put Centenary up 81-80, their first lead since three minutes into the game. O'Connor was fouled on the other end of the court and made both free throws for an 82-81 Knights lead. Centenary brought the ball back down the court. Warren Murphy took a shot with nine seconds remaining that was blocked by Blount. The Cyclones picked up the offensive rebound and still had one last chance. Murphy again took a shot, this time with five seconds left. Blount came down with the rebound, but Max Hughes stripped Blount of the ball and took the last second shot and hit the buzzer beater.
Neumann, 8-11 overall, 5-7 CSAC, will host Rosemont College on Saturday in CSAC action. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 PM.
