BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Neumann University women's hockey team defeated Sacred Heart University 3-2 on Sunday afternoon to complete a series split in non-conference action.
Diane Peters opened the scoring 1:12 into the game off an assist from Amanda Simpson. Edie Brenning gave the Knights a 2-0 advantage at the 4:08 mark of the second period from Kayla Dubowski. Ang Gilmour put Neumann up 3-0 on an unassisted goal midway through the second period.
Sacred Heart made the score 3-1 at the 16:25 mark of the second period. SHU then made the score 3-2 with under five minutes left in the third period. Sacred Heart pulled its goalie in an attempt to tie the game, but Neumann held on for the 3-2 win.
Allie Frank made 24 saves in net as Neumann improved to 2-7-2 on the season. The Knights get back to conference action next weekend when they travel to Elmira for a pair of games.
