Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team doubled-up Immaculata University 4-2 on Saturday morning in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

The first half remained quiet until the Knights, sporting pink jerseys to support breast cancer awareness, found the back of the net in the 24th minute. Marisa Rizzo put the ball in the goal, off an assist from Kelsey Mazur, for a 1-0 Neumann lead. The score did not change going into halftime.

In the 43rd minute, Neumann was awarded a penalty stoke and Chelsa O'Donnell put the ball past the goalie for a 2-0 advantage.

That opened the flood gate for a short amount of time as five goals were scored in the next ten minutes.

The Mighty Macs responded with a quick goal. Both teams kept pressing hard hoping for the other to budge just a little bit. The Knights went up 3-1 after O'Donnell added another goal.

The pressure from both teams continued to mount, and with that, Immaculata added another goal. The Knights, now leading 3-2, were looking to add an insurance goal. Freshman Alyssa McConaghie scored that goal the Knights needed.

The Macs continued to press hard until the final seconds, but the Knight's defense continued to hold their ground, holding on for a 4-2 victory.

O'Donnell, after scoring two of the Knights' four goals, anchored the spectacular defense for Neumann. Lindsey Kasecamp, a junior, played solid in net and made nine saves.

The Knights (3-11, 3-3 CSAC), will face Gwynedd-Mercy (11-4, 4-1 CSAC) on Tuesday night beginning at 7:00 PM.
