ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team gave No. 10 Utica College its first loss of the season, 1-0, on Saturday evening in ECAC West action.
The only goal of the game came in the third period as Jordan Zalba scored off a pass from Dan McDougall. That goal would stand as the game-winner.
Utica had a breakaway with 14:40 left in the third period while the Knights were on the power play. Braely Torris stoned the Pioneer to keep Neumann up 1-0. Torris also made some other point blank saves to keep Neumann up 1-0. Torris finished the game with 21 saves for the shutout.
The game was quick paced with a low amount of penalties. There were seven penalties in the game, which neither team could capitalize.
Neumann is now 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The Knights will travel to Salve Regina next Friday for a non-conference beginning at 7:00 PM.
