Women's Ice Hockey Slowed Down By Sacred Heart

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team were defeated by Sacred Heart University 6-2 in non-conference action, Saturday evening.

The Knights started off the game slow as they wound up giving Sacred Heart four power plays in the first period. Sacred Heart scored two goals on power plays and jump out to a 2-0 lead and a 16-4 shot advantage after the first intermission.

In the second period, the Knights started with more enthusiasm and a sense of purpose. Sacred Heart continued to outshoot the Knights, but the Knights were awarded a man-up situation. Off the face-off in the Knights defensive end, Sacred Heart won the faceoff and directed a shot on goal. Sacred Heart attacker was able to tip the puck by the net for a man down goal and lead 3-0.

The Knights would get on the scoreboard as Ashley Langdon would score 2:29 remaining in the second period. The puck was centered by Jessica Langdon and finished by her sister Ashley Langdon and cut the lead to 3-2 for Sacred Heart.

Casey Kilduff scored in front of the net midway through the third period. Lynsey Nakamura did all the hard work as she beat her defender on the wing and shot the puck towards the net for Kilduff to finish. The Knights closed to gap to a single goal losing 3-2 in the third period.

Sacred Heart killed off the game with three unanswered goals to win 6-2. The final two goals were empty net goals.

Allie Frank made 35 saves in the game.

The Knights (2-1) will host Sacred Heart again Sunday, November 11 at 3 p.m.
