NEWPORT, R.I. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team picked up a non-conference win, 5-3, over Salve Regina University on Friday evening.
Scott Farrell led the Knights with two goals and an assist. Steve Low netted his first collegiate goal, which became the game-winner. Aaron Keaney and Sean Crozier also lit the lamp. Ben Curley made 39 saves in net for his first collegiate win.
The Seahawks opened the scoring early, finding the back of the net just 3:36 into the game. Farrell then scored his first of two goals on the power play at the 11:49 mark of the first period. The senior defenseman tallied his second goal, also on the power play, four minutes later for a 2-1 Neumann lead.
Keaney and Low scored in the second period for a 4-1 lead after two periods. Keaney's goal came on the power play.
Salve Regina came out quick in the third period and scored 42 second in. The Seahawks scored again for a 4-3 game nine minutes into the period. Crozier put the Knights back up by two 22 seconds later.
Neumann (3-2) will host Cortland State next weekend in non-conference action.
