Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey suffered a 2-1 overtime loss at the hands of ECAC West Oswego State University, Sunday afternoon.

Oswego State outshot the Knights 10-3 in the first period, which reflected the dominance of play in the first period.

The second period was more balanced and the Knights opened the scoring with Shanelle Doucette shooting from outside the crease. Edie Brenning worked along the boards and served the puck into the slot to an awaiting Doucette, who tucked the puck into the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.

The Knights would cling to a lead that would evaporate at the 13:16 mark of third period to tie the score at 1-1.

The Knights had a chance to grab the win in the third period with Oswego State took a high sticking penalty with four minutes and change to go, but Oswego State successfully killed off the penalty.

The Knights had yet another chance in overtime with a two man advantage, but again, Oswego State held the Knights at bay.

Oswego State would get their opportunity from a Knight's tripping penalty with 1:05 remaining in overtime. With seven seconds remaining in overtime,

Oswego States defensemen took a point shot and it deflected off a Neumann defender's skate to get the 2-1 win.

Shannon Donnelly made 30 saves on the day.

"We learned a lot from this weekend and we need to focus harder on the little things in preparation of playoff atmosphere," mentioned Coach Handrahan.

The Knights (2-3-1, 2-2 ECAC West) get back on the ice rather quickly, as they host Manhattanville College Thursday, November 20 at 7 p.m.
