ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team opened its 2012-13 season at Elmira College Friday evening in ECAC West action. The Knights fell 3-2 in overtime.

The Soaring Eagles scored two early goals and were up 2-0 just five minutes into the game.

The Knights put a goal on the board in the sixth minute of the second period as Steve Gervais scored off assists from Dave Gervais and Mikko Virtanen.

Craig Cowie scored his first collegiate goal with 1:14 left in the second period to tie the game at two.

The teams played a scoreless third period and the first game of the season went into overtime.

Elmira netted the game-winning goal 1:55 into the extra session to spoil the comeback.

Ben Curley 27 saves in net. Both teams put 30 shots on goal.

The two teams will meet again tomorrow with the puck dropping at 7:00 PM.
