ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated SUNY-Cortland 5-3 on Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
Aaron Keaney had two goals for the Knights. D'Lane Sather had three assists while Dave Gervais notched two. Ben Curley picked up his second win on the season and made 25 saves in net.
Mike Cauley put the Knights on the board 9:10 into the game. The Red Dragons tied the game with a shorthanded goal. Jake Kratz answered 19 seconds later with a power play.
After no scoring in the second period, Cortland tied the game at two 3:34 into the third period. The Red Dragons then took a 3-2 lead with a power play goal at the 7:55 mark.
Craig Cowie knotted the game again, this time at three less than a minute later. Keaney scored his first goal at the 13:35 mark for a 4-3 lead. He netted an insurance goal a minute later for the 5-3 win.
The Knights wore special jerseys in support of Movember.
Neumann improves to 4-2 overall. The two teams will meet again tomorrow afternoon. The puck is set to drop at 3:00 PM.
