ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team picked up a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSA) win over Centenary College, 68-51, on Saturday afternoon.
Rich Whitten led the Knights with 19 points and eight rebounds. TaVaune Griffin added 15 points and eight rebounds. James Robertson notched 12 points.
Neumann opened strong, building a 10-2 lead in the first 4:38 of the game. The largest lead the Knights would hold in the first half was 16 points, twice, 27-11 and 30-14. Neumann held a 31-20 lead at halftime.
Centenary came out of the locker room and hit a three to start the second half. The teams then traded baskets before the Knights took off. By five minutes into the second half, Neumann had built a 45-27 advantage.
The Cyclones tried to chip their way back into the game, but could only get as close as 13 points, 47-34, as the Knights held a double-digit cushion for the remainder of the game.
Neumann improves to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the conference. The Knights will host Rutgers-Newark next Saturday in non-conference action beginning at 2:00 PM.
