IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Immaculata University 67-63 on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Mark Blount led the Knights with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six blocks. Mike Walukiewicz notched 14 points and Terrance Clark added 12.
The game remained close throughout, though the Knights held the lead for the majority of the time. Neumann held a six point lead part way through the half and a 30-28 advantage at the break.
The second half would be much like the first. Neumann held the largest lead, 43-35, with 16:09 left in the half. With 3:50 left in regulation, the teams were tied at 68. The Mighty Macs took a one point lead as they went 1-for-2 from the line. Blount hit a layup to put the Knights back up by one. Rich Whitten would hit two layups within a minute for a 64-61 Knights advantage with 1:46 left on the clock.
Gerald Bryant was fouled with 19 seconds left after Immaculata missed its shot. Bryant made 1-of-2 for a four point Knights lead. The Mighty Macs would hit a jumper with 13 seconds remaining. Walukiewicz was fouled on the inbound pass and made both free throws to seal the Neumann road victory.
Neumann is now 10-11 overall and 7-7 in the CSAC. The Knights stay on the road and travel to Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday for a 2 PM tip-off.
