Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team were triumphant beating non-conference Bryn Mawr College 18-13, Tuesday evening.

With three home games remaining in the season, the Knights were looking to get back to their winnings way, by defeating the first team on their list (Bryn Mawr Owls).

The Knights were led by Alexandra Bohen and Meghan Garsey with four goals each. Sam Kotowski  made 11 saves.

The Owls showed little that they only had two wins in the season. The Knights jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 59 seconds into the game, but the game a bizarre turn when the Owls scored the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead.

The game became a track meet with Bryn Mawr possessing the ball for longer stretches than the Knights. As the Knights are a team used to winning and scoring, they appeared more comfortable when opportunities came their way. The Knights buckled down and scored five goals to take a 6-3 lead off of Amanda Fedak's free position goal with 15:59 left in the first half.

Both team went back and forth, as each team couldn't create any sort of flow in the game. The score was 10-8 in favor of the Knights until Andrea Lorusso scored with 16 seconds remaining in the first half in a terrific individual move. Lorusso had two Owls draped all over her, but found a way to spin away to score an awkward, off balance shot.

The second half was much the same as the first half, in which turnovers plagued both teams. The Knights outscored the Owls 7-5 in the second half.

The most revealing statistic for the Knights was that they only had one assist in the game. It speaks volumes that they weren't able connect on passes or get the movement necessary to create more goal scoring opportunities.

“I think Bryn Mawr came out ready to play and I don't think we battled the way I know that we can”, said Coach Malone.

The Knights (9-4, 4-2 CSAC) will host Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday April 21, at 1 p.m.
