ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's tennis team have earned a spot in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoffs as the No. 4 seed. They will be taking on No. 1 seeded Marywood University in the semi-finals on Friday April 27 at Northwood Racquet Club in Easton, Pa.
The Knights are back in the CSAC playoffs from a one year hiatus. The preseason coaches' poll reflected that the Pacers (9-4 overall, 7-0 CSAC) finish No. 1 and the Knights (5-8 overall, 4-2) finish No. 4 in the CSAC with great accuracy.
In the regular season, the Pacers took charge in Scranton, defeating the Knights 9-0 on April 5. The Pacers had first or second place finishes in singles for all but the No. 5 singles slot. They also finished second in second and third doubles play. Marywood holds the keys to the city winning the last two CSAC Championships.
The Knights were the team to win the conference in 2009 and the matchup between the two schools brings about a fierce rivalry that the Knights fancy. Neumann is in the bonus round and willing to throw caution into the wind. Who better to play than against the team that has taken the crown the last two years?!
The Knights are led in singles by
Bryan Bodine in conference play with a 5-1 record.
Joshua McMillion and
Andrew Raimundo will help guide the Knights into the postseason with each holding a 4-2 CSAC record.
The winner of this semi-final match will take on the winner of No. 2 Cabrini College and No. 3 Baptist Bible match on April 28.
