Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team claimed their second win of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Knights defeated the Notre Dame of Maryland University Gators 10-0 in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

The Knights came out a blaze in the opening minutes. Neumann had total control of the ball in the first half. Sophomore Lindsey Spatola and senior Ellyn Jones began the offensive festivities. Spatola scored the first of her three goals in the first few minutes of the game. The Knights held an early 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the game.

The offensive continued from there and did not quit until the final minutes. The Knights were executing their game plan to perfection, and as a result, took a 7-0 lead into halftime.

The second half was as the first. The Knights continued to dominate the ball and control the game at their tempo. The Gators had some scoring opportunities as well, but the Knights defense was just as strong as their offense. Neumann allowed just two shots overall and only one on net.

Five different Knights scored in the game. Spatola led the offense with three goals and one assist. Jones added two goals of her own, and also three assists. Kenya Woods netted two of her own goals. Beth Lounsberry, Carolynn Bacho and Alyssa McConaghie added a goal apiece.

Jillian DeFina led the suffocating defense for the Knights, and goalkeepers Lindsey Kasecamp and Nicole Galvin combined for the shutout.

The Knights (2-6, 2-0) will look to continue their winning ways when they face CSAC rival Cabrini College on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
