ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Rosemont College 86-68 on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Mark Blount led the Knights with a double-double, 25 points and 17 rebounds, and added seven blocks. TaVaune Griffin added 21 points and three blocks. Dom Gibson hit three three-pointers and finished with 13 points. Terrance Clark added 10 points.
Neumann went on a 16-6 run midway through the first half, after the team had been tied at 14, to take a 30-20 advantage. The Knights biggest lead during the half was 12 points, 38-26, with 1:16 on the clock. The Ravens hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to cut the Knights lead to five, 39-34, leading into the locker rooms.
Rosemont start the second half five straight points to get to within one, 39-38. The teams battled over the next few minutes and the game was tied at 46 with 14:40 on the clock. Over the next five minutes, Neumann went on a 21-4 run to take a 67-50 lead. That put the game out of reach for the Ravens as the Knights kept a double-digit lead for the rest of the contest and came away with the 86-68 win.
Neumann improves to 6-9 overall and 5-3 in the CSAC. The Knights host Cairn University on Saturday in conference action beginning at 1:00 PM.
