Keaney's Hat Trick Leads Knights Past Valiants

ASTON, Pa. – Aaron Keaney scored a hat trick as the Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated No. 11 Manhattanvile College 5-1 on Friday evening in ECAC West action.

 

Keaney finished with three goals and an assist. Andrew Love and Jon Low dished out two assists each. Braely Torris made 28 saves in net, 26 of which game in the second and third periods.

 

Keaney got Neumann off to a quick start with a goal 4:26 into the first period. Harley Garrioch and Love drew the assists. Scott Farrell then scored from the point on the power play. Keaney and Dave Gervais assisted.

 

Manhattanville capitalized on a 5-on-3 advantage for the only goal of the second period. Neumann held the 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

 

Time was starting to wind down in the third period as the Knights held the 2-1 lead. Two quick goals by Neumann gave them a 4-1 lead and some breathing room. Chris Bournazos, from Jordan Zalba, put the Knights up 3-1 with 4:28 left in regulation. Keaney then scored his second goal of the game, from Low, 39 seconds later.

 

Keaney notched his hat trick with 1:01 left in the game.  Low and Love assisted.

 

The win is Knights seventh straight as they improve to 11-4-2 overall and 3-4 in the conference.

 

Neumann travels to Utica and Nazareth next weekend for road conference action. Both games are slated for 7:00 PM puck drops.
