Field Hockey Clinches Playoff Berth with 5-2 Win

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team clinched a playoff spot with a 5-2 win over Cedar Crest College on Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Jess Harrell scored three goals. Alexa McIntyre had two defensive saves while Lindsey Kasecamp only had to make one save in net.

Harrell opened the scoring 2:40 into the game. Lindsey Spatola assisted. Becky Guinto put Neumann up 2-0 in the 16th minute. The Falcons cut the Knights lead in the half in the 21st minute. Harrell's second goal put Neumann back up by two, 3-1, in the 23rd minute. Jill Richards tallied the assist.

Cedar Crest scored first in the second half for a 3-2 game in the 51st minute. Harrell notched the hat trick just two minute later for another two-goal lead. Jordan Hopkins gave the Knights an insurance run just another minute later.

Neumann outshot Cedar Crest 40-5 overall, led by Harrell with 10. Spatola added eight of her own.

Neumann (8-11, 4-3 CSAC) will be the No. 4 seed in the postseason and will travel to No. 1 seeded Cabrini on Wednesday in semifinal action.
