Men's Basketball Opens CSAC Action with Win

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Rosemont College 77-73 on Tuesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

Kevin Green led the Knights with 28 points, going 5-for-5 from beyond the arc. Reggie Coleman notched 18 points while Rich Whitten added 12. Mark Blount pulled down 15 boards.

The teams battled back and forth in the first half. With the teams ties at 31, the sixth tie of the half, Neumann notched the next six points for a 37-31 lead. The Knights held a six point advantage, 40-34, at the half.

Neumann held the lead for the entire second half, but Rosemont did not go quietly. The Ravens started to make their comeback attempt as the Knights held a 71-59 lead with 2:17 left in regulation.

Rosemont went on to score 11 of the next 12 points for a 72-70 game with 39 seconds left on the clock. Despite the Raven hot shooting down the stretch, they could not make it over the hump to take the lead. A free throw by Benny Birch with one second left put the Knights up by four to come away with the 77-73 win.

Neumann (3-0, 1-0 CSAC) will host the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Saturday. Action gets underway at 12:00 PM with Rosemont and Rowan. Cabrini and Widener tip-off at 2:15 PM. Neumann and Richard Stockton conclude the Classic at 4:30 PM.
