Blount Hits 1,000 Points in Big Win at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Mark Blount reached the 1,000 point mark for his career as the Neumann University men's basketball team defeated Rowan University 66-48 on Thursday evening.

Rowan came out strong to start the game and held a 22-14 lead nine minutes into the game. Over the next three-plus minutes, Neumann started to connect on its baskets and came back to knot the game at 24 with 7:30 remaining in the half. During the run, at the 8:11 mark, Blount hit a jumper to surpass the 1,000 point plateau.

The teams would trade baskets before the end of the half and the Profs held a 33-31 lead into the break.

Baskets were scarce to begin the second half. Kevin Green hit the first connection 1:45 into the half to tie the score. Blount followed with two baskets to take a 37-33 lead with 15:11 on the clock. The Knights steadily continued to add to their lead throughout the half and held a 20 point advantage, 59-39, with 8:44 on the clock. Overall, Neumann held Rowan to just 15 points in the final 20 minutes to come away with the 66-48 win.

Blount finished the game with 22 points. DeShawn Lowman added 13 points and 13 rebounds. Rich Whitten added 11 points. Rafiq Williams pulled down 10 boards.

Neumann (6-3) will participate in the Team Hill Holiday Classic next Friday and Saturday at Montclair State. The Knights will face Berkeley College on December 27 beginning at 5:30 PM.
