GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Neumann University women's basketball team fell in a close 71-68 non-conference game at Rowan University on Thursday evening.

Erica Marvel led the Knights with 14 points. Colleen Hinde notched 11 points. JoHanna Metzger and Lauren Walker each added 10 points.

Rowan held the play throughout the first 20 minutes. Midway through the first half, and the Profs leading 20-16, they went on a 10-2 run to take a 30-18 lead. The Profs held a 36-24 lead at the half.

Neumann came out on fire in the second half, opening with a 9-2 run to get to within three, 38-35. The teams would have a tie score twice, including knotted at 62 with 2:44 left in regulation, however, the Knights could not break through and take a lead. With 46 seconds left on the clock, Jessica Schlesman made a layup for get to within one, 69-68. After a few missed shots by both teams, Rowan connected on two free throws with nine seconds remaining and Neumann could not get another shot off.

Neumann (3-5) will travel to Albright College after the New Year. Action gets underway on January 2 at 7:00 PM.
