Men's Basketball Falls in Final Minutes

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's basketball team fell in a close 64-60 game to Gwynedd-Mercy College on Wednesday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.

 

TaVaune Griffin led the Knights with a double-double, 13 points and 12 rebounds and also added six blocks. Terrance Clark, who was honored before the game as the lone senior on the roster, netted 12 points. Rich Whitten added 11.

 

The game came down to the final 3:19 of regulation and the teams tied at 60. The Griffins were able to break the tied score with 1:07 left and then added a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left to seal the win.

 

During the second half, there were seven tied scores as the teams battled for the conference win. The largest lead was five points, 45-40, held by the Knights, 6:20 into the second half.

 

Neumann held the action in the first half and held a nine point advantage twice during the half. The Knights could not shake the Griffins. GMC began to slip back into the game and Neumann held a 33-30 lead at the half.

 

Neumann finishes the regular season 12-13 overall and 11-7 in the conference. The Knights will be the No. 5 seed in the postseason and will travel to No. 4 Immaculata on Saturday for first round action.
