ASTON, Pa. – The No. 14 Neumann University men's ice hockey team defeated Nazareth College 5-3 in ECAC West action on Friday evening.

Craig Cowie, Scott Farrrell and Steve Gervais all had a goal and an assist for the Knights. Braely Torris made 25 saves in net.

Farrell put the Knights up 1-0 with the only goal of the first period. Mike Cauley and Gervais assisted on the goal.

Neumann scored three goals in a two-minute span in the second period to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Gervais scored at the 11:05 mark, off assists from Scott Elkow and Dan McDougall. Cowie found the back of the net just 49 seconds later. Chris Bournazos drew the assist. Jordan Zalba then scored just a minute later on a 5-on-3 power play for a 4-0 Knights lead. Cowie and Farrell assisted.

Nazareth took over the final five minutes of the period and scored three goals, two coming on the power play. Neumann held the slim 4-3 lead heading into the final period.

Sean Crozier scored an insurance goal for the Knights midway through the third period. Mikko Virtanen assisted on the goal. Nazareth went to the power play with 1:56 left in regulation and pulled its goalie. The Golden Flyers could not break through again and the Knights came away with the 5-3 win.

Neumann improves to 15-6-3 overall and 7-6-1 in the conference. The two teams will meet again tomorrow in the regular season finale. The face-off is slated for 7:00 PM and it is senior night when the 10 seniors from the team will be honored before the game.
