Men’s Ice Hockey hosts Nazareth in ECAC West First Round Action

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's ice hockey will host Nazareth College on Wednesday evening in an ECAC West First Round contest.

 

The Knights are the No. 3 seed in the playoffs after finishing the season 8-6-1 in conference action. Neumann finished the regular season 16-6-3 overall and is currently ranked No. 10 in the d3hockey.com poll and No. 13 in the USCHO.com poll.

 

The Golden Flyers finished the regular season 6-18-1 overall and 1-14 in the ECAC West and will be the No. 6 team.

 

Neumann took the regular season series from Nazareth, winning all three games. In Rochester, the Knights won 3-0 behind two goals from Chris Bournazos. Back on home ice, the Knights won both contests just this past weekend. On Friday in a 5-3 victory, Craig Cowie, Scott Farrell and Steve Gervais all had a goal and an assist. The following night, Gervais followed up with two goals and an assist in the 4-2 win. Braley Torris has 87 saves in the three games.

 

On the season, the Knights are being led by Farrell with six goals and 17 assists for 23 points from the blue line. Bournazos leads the team with 13 goals while Aaron Keaney has netted 11. Torris is 10-4-2 in net this season with a 2.12 goals-against-average and two shutouts.

 

Manhattanville hosts Elmira in the other first round game tonight. The winners will then travel to either Hobart or Elmira on Saturday for semifinal action. The Championship will be help on Saturday, March 2 at the highest remaining seed.
