Box Score

CHESTER, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team travelled across town and lost their first game of the season to non-conference opponents Widener University 13-2,  Wednesday afternoon.

Mark Consolo led the Knights with one goal and one assist, along with Andrew Neubauer who made 16 saves in the loss. Neubauer always seems to make saves with the highest degree of difficulty in years past and the spectators weren't let down on this occasion.

The Pride used their home field advantage to get off to a 2-0 lead in the first period. The lead was cut in half by Consolo with 1:40 remaining in the first period to trail 2-1. Chris Scott assisted on the goal.

The teams exchanged goals to give the Pride a 3-2 lead, before Widener scored four goals in the last 4:31 of the second period.  Jordan Klunk scored the goal for the Knights. Widener took a 7-2 advantage into halftime.

Widener came out of the second half with precision and purpose, as they scored three goals in the third period and added three more in the fourth period to hold the Knights at bay.

On the day, the Pride were strong in every category, including 45-13 shot advantage.

“I think we have a lot growing to do, but I can see our intentions are good,” said Coach Malampy. “There are many things that we can take from this game and I look forward to making progress one day at a time.”

The Knights (0-1) travel to King's College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
