HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Neumann University men's basketball team picked up key Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) win at Centenary College on Saturday afternoon, 88-73.
Reggie Coleman led the Knights with 24 points, including five from downtown. Mark Blount (18p, 12r) and TaVaune Griffin (16p, 11r) each notched a double-double. Rich Whitten also netted double-digits with 12 points.
Neumann never trailed in the game and started the contest on a 9-2 run. The Cyclones pulled to within three, 14-11, before the Knights had a 19-7 run to build a 33-18 advantage. Neumann held a 41-25 advantage at the half.
During the first three minutes of the second half, Centenary had an 11-4 run to get to within nine, 45-36, but that was the closest it would get. Neumann slowly built an 18 points lead, 61-43, with 12:23 left in the second period. The Cyclones would get to within six, 78-72, to make an interesting final three minutes. Neumann outscored Centenary 10-1 to wrap-up the game and the 88-73 win.
Neumann gets over the .500 mark and is now 12-11 overall, 11-5 in the conference. The Knights travel to Immaculata on Monday for CSAC action beginning at 8:00 PM.
