Men's Lacrosse Comeback Falls Short

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team weathered the lightning but not the Cylcones of Centenary College by the score of 11-7 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), Wednesday evening.

On a beautiful warm day to start the game, the Knights celebrated Andrew Neubauer and Justin Smith on Senior Day.

The Cyclones scored the first three goals of the game in the first period. Chris Scott closed the gap for the Knights with a goal at the 4:30 mark left in the first period to trail 3-1.

The Cyclones took a 2-1 goal advantage in the second period to stretch their lead 5-2 going into intermission.

The game was delayed at the 4:36 mark left in the second period for around an hour, due lightning strikes.

The Cyclones extended its lead to 6-2 to start the third period before the Knights scored three unanswered goals. Ian Coyle capped off the scoring in the third period with 18 seconds remaining in the third period.

Ryan Eber scored early in the fourth period to send the Knights fans into a frenzy with the scored tied 6-6.

The Cyclones were unnerved by the Knights comeback and countered with a run of their own, as they scored five of the six remaining goals in the game.

Neubauer made 16 saves in the game. Patrick Rose, Scott and Eber all had two points in the game to lead the Knights.

The Knights (1-9, 0-3) face CSAC opponent league leaders Cabrini College on Thursday, April 18 at 4 p.m.
