ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's lacrosse team suffer a loss in non-conference action against Swarthmore College 16-5, Thursday evening.

The Knights came out flying to start out the game grabbing the first two goals of the contest. Lexy Wilkinson scored first with Jordan Hopkins netting the second goal.

Swarthmore settled in from that point onward, as they would score the next nine goals to take a 9-2 lead going into halftime. The Knights had no answer for The Garnets Annalise Penikis, who scored six goals in the first half and added one assist (7 goals, 4 assists in the game).

Hopkins scored her second goal of the game to start the second half on a positive note, before the Garnets were able to go on a 7-2 run. Alexa McIntyre and Rebecca Dolenti scored the other two goals for the Knights.

Chrissy Hughes made six saves in the game.

The Garnets scored seven out of nine free position shots and the Knights were two for four.

“We knew we weren't going to be undefeated this year, but we can take valuable lessons on how to progress and more forward from our last two losses,” said Coach Malone. “This is the first time we had to handle adversity all season long and I look forward to see how quick we can regroup as a team. Good teams always figure it out.”

Neumann (11-3) has lost their last two games and they will host CSAC opponents Cedar Crest College on Tuesday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
