Gwynedd, Pa. – The Neumann University men's lacrosse team ends their season with a loss against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Gwynedd-Mercy College 12-7, Thursday evening.
Neumann started the game just as they have done in games past this season, where they get off to a great start, but can't sustain that magic for 60 minutes. The Knights scored the first three goals of the game to take a 3-0 in the first period.
Ryan Eber scored the first goal of the game with 12:46 in the game. After Chris Scott and Eric Johnson scored, the Griffins closed out the first period scoring four goals to take a 4-3 lead. Gwynedd-Mercy scored three goals between 2:02 and 1:11 remaining in the half.
Ryan O'Kane scored 2:05 into the second period to tie the game at 4-4, before the Griffins reasserted their attack by scoring three goals and take a 7-6 halftime lead.
The Knights found themselves down by four goals with 8:20 left in the third period. The ability for Neumann to come out strong after the halftime intermission had been problematic at points during the season and the Knights didn't have an answer for the Griffins quick start to the third period.
The Griffins outshot the Knights in the third period alone 14-7. The Knights would only score one goal in the second half by Eber.
The Knights were led by Eber who scored three goals, Patrick Rose recorded three assist and Alex Becker made 13 saves in the game.
The Knights end their season with a 2-11 overall record and 1-5 in the CSAC.
