Box Score

GWYNEDD, Pa. The Neumann University women's lacrosse team extended their win streak to six games after defeating Gwynedd-Mercy College 15-7 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), Saturday afternoon.

Meghan Garsey scored five goals and added two assist to lead the Knights. Chrissy Hughes also came up big as she made 14 saves in the game.

Neumann exploded with goals coming from everywhere and everyone. The Knights scored the first eight goals of the game with Garsey and Jordan Hopkins scoring two goals each in the eight goal span.

The Knights walked into the halftime break with a 12-3 lead.

Neumann took their foot off the pedal in the second half, but not enough to compromise the final result. The Griffins outscored the Knights 4-3 in the second half and poor positioning by the Knights defenders cost them 12 free position opportunities, in which the Griffins scored five of their seven goals.

“I appreciate that we won when we weren't at our best, but today was reflective of us not playing for 60 complete minutes,” said Coach Malone. “I have been encouraged lately that we competed at a high level throughout the duration of the last four or five games, but today was a one-off for us. There will be no error of margin for our next conference contest.”

The Knights (11-1, 5-0 CSAC) will host co CSAC leaders Cabrini College on Tuesday, April 9 at 4 p.m.
