Box Score

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team dropped an exciting 2-1 overtime game to Stevenson University on Friday evening in the 2013 opening game.

After playing a scoreless first half, the Knights got on the board as Lindsey Spatola put the ball in the net after a scrum in front of the net in the 43rd minute. Kenya Woods tallied the assist. The Mustangs answered quickly, scoring just 17 seconds later to tie the game at one.

It would take overtime for the game to be decided as Stevenson was the team who could capitalize and scored the winning goal in the 81st minute.

As both halves came to an end, the Mustangs were awarded penalty corners, but the Knights held their ground on each occasion and the score would not change.

Each goalie made save after save. Lindsey Kasecamp ended with 21 saves in net for Neumann. Becky Guinto led the Knights in shots with five.

Neumann (0-1) will host Va. Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 1:00 PM.
