ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball took two matches at the second day of the Knights Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Katelin Kuklentz and Kelsey D'Imperio were named to the All-Tournament team.
In the first match, Neumann won 3-0 over Bryn Mawr. D'Imperio led the Knights with nine kills while hitting .368 in the match. Gianna Jones had eight kills and a hitting percentage of .357. Kat Wolf handed out 30 assists. Julia Malseed anchored the defense with 11 digs.
In the final match, the Knights won 3-1 over Scranton. The Royals took the first set 25-18 before the Knights came back to win the next three sets. In the second set, the teams were tied at 21 before Neumann rattled off four straight points to tie the match at 1-1.
In the third set, it was once a battle, but the Knights came away with the 25-23 win. Neumann then finished off the match for the win with a 25-16 fourth set.
Kuklentz had 14 kills in the match. Jones added 11 kills. Anna Waltz hit .444 with 10 kills. Wolf dished out 44 assists. Kuklentz (17), Malseed (16), Danielle Kwapisz (16) and Elaina Shooster (12) all played integral parts, making the dig when needed as the Royals tried to get the point on a kill.
Neumann (5-7) went 3-1 overall at the Invitational. The Knights will look to take the momentum with them down to Bridgewater, Va. next weekend for the Fall Fever Quad Match.
