BOSTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's ice hockey team defeated Stevenson University 3-2 on Friday afternoon in the consolation game at the 7th Annual Codfish Bowl thanks to a hat trick by Edie Brenning.
Brenning netted her first goal, unassisted, at the 13:49 mark of the first period. The senior then made the score 2-0 with a power play goal with five minutes left in the second period. Sarah Thon tallied the assist. Three minutes later, Brenning completed the natural hat trick and a 3-0 Knights lead. Meghan Power and Keira St - Laurent notched the assists
Stevenson cut the lead to 3-1 with 1:14 left in the second period with a power play goal. The Mustangs pulled to within one midway through the third period, but the Knights hung on for the 3-2 win.
Julia Fair made 34 saves in net as Neumann improves to 3-9 on the season.
Neumann now returns home for seven straight games. The Knights open with Potsdam for a pair of games on January 18 and 19.
