Volleyball Takes Care of Giants in Four Sets

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team remained perfect in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action with a 3-1 win at Keystone on Wednesday evening.

The Knights took the first two sets, 25-12, 25-21. The Giants were able to win a close set three 25-23. Neumann took care of the match in the fourth set, 25-22.

Kelsey D'Imperio led the Knights with 12 kills, only two errors on 18 attempts for a .556 hitting percentage. Anna Waltz had 10 kills with just one error for a .409 hitting percentage. Kat Wolf handed out 43 assists and 17 digs. Julia Malseed added 13 digs.

Neumann won the first set with much ease. D'Imperio sealed the early 1-0 advantage with two kills. In set two, the teams were knotted at 21 before the Knights were able to score the final four points, thanks to two kills by Waltz, a kill by Ashley Clark and a service ace by Wolf.

The close third set did not go the Knights way. Keystone took a 14-7 lead. Neumann climbed its way back into the set and the game ended up tied at 20. The teams then traded points and were again tied, this time at 23. The Giants were able to get two straight kills to force a fourth set.

Keystone put up a fight in the fourth set, but Neumann battled and was able to put away the match. A D'Imperio kill sealed the set, match and win.

Neumann (12-4, 4-0 CSAC) heads back north to Baptist Bible on Friday evening for more CSAC action beginning at 7:00 PM.
