ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University field hockey team celebrated homecoming with an 11-0 win over Notre Dame of Maryland University on Saturday morning in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action.
Lindsey Spatola had four goals, including the first three of the game, to lead the Knights. Kenya Woods added two goals and Jessica Harrell had a goal and an assist. Becca Wallace made five saves in net for the shutout.
Spatola opened the scoring just 1:07 into the game. The senior then went on to score the next two goals for a 3-0 game just five minutes into action.
Harrell made it 4-0 in the seventh minute. Jillian DeFina scored her first goal in the 19th minute to cap the scoring in the first half. Neumann led 5-0.
Spatola opened the scoring quickly in the second half as well, netting a goal 1:39 in. Megan Shumate netted her first goal of the season just over a minute later. Marisa Antuzzi and Alisha Del Percio found the back of the cage for the next two goals. Woods capped the scoring with her two goals for the 11-0 final.
The Knights outshot the Gators 26-8 overall and 18-5 on net.
Neumann (10-6, 4-0 CSAC) travels to Cabrini on Tuesday for more CSAC action beginning at 4:00 PM.
