RADNOR, Pa. – The Neumann University field hockey team suffered its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) set-back at the hands of crosstown rival Cabrini College, 4-1, on Tuesday afternoon.
Jillian DeFina had a defensive save, giving her a career total of 18, passing Chelsa O'Donnell and setting the program record. Summer Sklivas made 10 saves in net for the Knights.
The Cavaliers scored two goals in each half en route to the win. Cabrini opened the scoring in the 15th minute, capitalizing on a rebound. The Cavaliers made it 2-0 in the 18th minute on a penalty corner.
Marisa Antuzzi cut the Cavaliers lead in half, 2-1, in the 43rd minute, deflecting a pass from Becky Guinto. However, that was as close as the Knights would get. Cabrini scored two more goals, in the 50th and 53rd minutes for the 4-1 final.
Neumann (10-7, 4-1 CSAC) hosts Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday in a big CSAC game. Action gets underway at 2:00 PM.
