Volleyball Wins Exciting 3-2 Match Against Immaculata

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team came away with a thrilling five set win over Immaculata University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action on Wednesday evening. The Knights won the first set 25-11. The Mighty Macs then took sets two and three, 25-22, 25-23. Neumann came back forced a fifth set with a 25-16 win in set four and won the match with a 15-11 win in set five.

Before the match, the Knights honored their six seniors: Danielle Kwapisz, Ashley Clark, Elaina Shooster, Kelsey D'Imperio, Faith Cook and Stephanie Michel.

Anna Waltz led the offense with 16 kills. Amanda McAleer added 15 kills and D'Imperio had 10. Clark handed out 49 assists. Julia Malseed anchored the defense with 22 digs. McAleer tallied 15 while Shooster and Waltz each added 12.

Immaculata took the first four points in the first set, but Neumann came right back with 12 consecutive points with Malseed serving. The two teams would then score back-and-forth, but the Mighty Macs could not come back from the 12 point run and Neumann won 25-11.

Second set was a different story as each team had small runs of scoring. Neumann kept it close as it was tied 22-22 but Immaculata came away with the 25-22 win.

The Might Macs got out to an early 10-0 lead in the third set. After a few back-and-forth runs, the Knights started to make a move. Neumann was able to get to within a point, 24-23, but could not completely overcome the early 10-1 deficit. Immaculata came out with a winning score of 25-23.


Neumann went back to the way it is used to playing and took the fourth set 25-16 to force a fifth and deciding set. The Knights finished the match with an impressive 15-10 win to take set five.

Neumann (20-10) finishes CSAC action 10-1 and will be the No. 2 seed in the postseason. The Knights finish up the regular season by hosting Dig Pink Tri-Match on Saturday with DeSales and Richard Stockton. Action gets underway at 11:00 PM.
