CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. – The Neumann University volleyball team defeated Baptist Bible College in straight sets, 3-0, on Friday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action. Set scores were 25-22, 25-20, 25-19.
The win was a total team effort as 14 Knights saw the court. Danielle Kwapisz notched 13 digs on the defensive side while Julia Malseed added 12. Kat Wolf handed out 23 assists to six Knights that had at last two kills.
The first set was a back forth battle with as the teams traded points and the lead throughout. While looking for the set point, Kelsey D'Imperio sealed the 25th point with a kill.
In set number two, Neumann jumped out to a 20-12 advantage. Baptist Bible then was able to score the next six points to cut the lead to 20-18. Sarah Sanderson notched a kill to break the Defenders streak. The Knights then were able to seal set two off some Defenders miscues.
Neumann held the advantage for most of set three as well, holding a 19-12 lead. Baptist Bible wasn't going to go easy and Neumann had to work for the match point. On the fourth match point attempt, Anna Waltz sealed the win with a kill.
Neumann (13-4, 5-0 CSAC) will head to the Swarthmore Tri-Match tomorrow. The Knights will face Johns Hopkins at 2:00 PM followed by Swarthmore at 4:00 PM.
