Box Score 2 SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Neumann University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches, both 3-0, to Johns Hopkins University and Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon.
Against Hopkins, the set scores were 25-15, 25-15, 25-17. Three Knights had four kills each. Kat Wolf handed out 17 assists and 12 digs. Kristine Quinn added nine digs.
In the first set, the team traded points for the first part of the half. With the Knights leading 12-11, the Blue Jays went on a 7-1 run to take an 18-13 lead. Hopkins finished the set with 7-2 run for the win. JHU used key runs in the second and third sets as well to come away with the match.
In the match against Swarthmore, the set scores were 25-16, 25-20, 25-23. Amanda McAleer led the Knights with 10 kills. Wolf dished out 26 assists. Danielle Kwapisz notched 14 digs and Ali Frey added 13.
The Garnet won the first set with much ease. The Knights got stronger with each set and gave more of a fight. Within two points in set two, 21-19, Swarthmore finished getting four of the final five points. The third set was back and forth the entire time. A kill by McAleer made it 24-23 Swarthmore, but Neumann could not get the tying point and the Garnet sealed the win.
Neumann (13-6) will host two conference matches on Tuesday. Action against Cedar Crest gets underway at 5:00 PM followed with Gwynedd Mercy at 7:00 PM.
